Trailer of "Max"

What was your drive behind making this film?

Behind the Scene

Mr. Bouhaïk: I made this film on my own behind the camera and it was a first to have professional actors with me and to make such a long 18 minute film. I wanted to make a film on the "virus" threat in laboratories in 2018 and 2019 ...

How you feel when you are awarded with the MP FILM AWARD Award?

Mr. Bouhaïk: I felt proud while watching the weaknesses of my movie i thought i would do even better next time ...

Can you tell us about the greatest moment during shooting this film?

Behind the Scene

Mr. Bouhaïk: Each sequence each shot is a great moment because it is the realization of several hours of preparation.

How rigorously did you stick to the script while shooting?

Mr. Bouhaïk: We always adapt technically for the shoot, but I managed to follow my original script.

Where there any onset problems During the filming of the film & how did you deal with it?

Behind the Scene

Mr. Bouhaïk: We had to manage the planning and change the work plans according to the people who are working on the film but it is normal when we make a film with 150 US dollars.

Do you have any advice for young filmmaker out there? Or like yourself?

Mr. Bouhaïk: The first advice is to think with the sound and the sound design (my actors already have the soundscapes of the film to put them in condition before the shooting). the sound is a priority that we neglect and take it into account when writing the scenario. Then you have to practice a lot, because you learn a lot from these mistakes.

Do you think it is essential to go to a film institute in order to become a successful filmmaker?

Behind the Scene

Mr. Bouhaïk: No it is not essential but any teaching is good to take.

Which film has inspired you the most?

Mr. Bouhaïk: Many filmmakers and films inspire me but for "Max" I wanted to pay homage to "The night of the living dead" and "The Crazyes" by Romero

Which particular film maker has influenced you the most?

Mr. Bouhaïk: Stanley Kubrick

Which book would you love to make a film out of one day?

Mr. Bouhaïk: I don't yet have an idea since I'm in the middle of preparing my feature film.

If you got the opportunity to go back in time & change something in any particular movie of yours, then which movie & what changes will you opt for?

Mr. Bouhaïk: I was lucky with COVID to have images of my crazy city so I can change the end of "Max" and continue the story ...

If you were to shoot the film again, what would you do differently?

Mr. Bouhaïk: Having a technical team would be the best because shooting a movie when you take care of the camera, the sound and the direction of the actor is a big challenge.

What is your greatest achievement till date?

Mr. Bouhaïk: For 3 years my film "Max" has won more than 100 awards and mentions for a film at 150 $.

How do you pick yourself up after a failed film?

Mr. Bouhaïk: Just before making "Max" I made a film that did not work in festivals, it took me 9 months to realize that there was a problem with the editing and the narration. I reassembled it and corrected it then it worked in festivals ...

Even my last projects "until dawn" 6 months after the festival release. I cut 5 minutes from the film ...

in reality you always have to take a step back on his film and even if it is failed there are always positive elements and mistakes not to be made again ...
